Thanks. I like the idea of fork mount for better illumination plus also having light when you steer. I guess I'll see what's on amazon sometime this week.

I have rear discs but used to have rear drums ( Sym rs50, TGB laser ) . My friends have rear brakes. Like prodigit said rear drums will squeak.
I like having the rear discs on my cobra but like that my friends don't because it sounds like they have sat on a parrot ! Makes me laugh every time.

Yes ! I know someone has just asked a similar question ! But I am asking to hear from people who currently actually use them and can offer suggestions of brand, placement and results! Thanks !

I have a Kymco cobra and the head lights are pretty poor. I have read some posts regarding led cree type lights but wonder if anyone is using them with good results and can recommend.
Also do you run direct from battery or through existing wiring harness ?
I'm mostly interested in use on dark side roads for short periods of time. When I'm running in lighted areas I use the hi-beam all the time and "passing" when it looks like someone is about to pull out on me.
So really, mostly for short periods of time ( 1-2 mins ) .
Also anyone fork mounted for directional light, etc.
Anyways , if you use them , let us know where you mounted them , which type, where you got them, how you hooked them up and how they work !
Thanks !

I bought my current scoot the Kymco cobra with the super 9 motor so I'd have something to ride with my girlfriend. She was going to ride the SYM as it was bigger and easier to ride but she didn't like scooting so I sold it and bought her a seadoo instead !
I sold the SYM instead of the Kymco because it was not messed with unlike my Kymco. Easier to sell. I do miss it though it was super smooth shifting and riding , comfortable, was very quick for a standard 50cc and looked awesome.
Anyway those tinytech type rpm gauges have a wire that wraps around the sparkplug lead. That's it. Super simple.

I just ran through the front bin and used double sided tape as a temporary thing. I sold it before I had a chance to do anything else but it worked well there.

It's called a racer but they are just road tires. So road tires vs dual purpose, I should have said !

I have the same scooter up until about 6 months ago . I only mention it because there's not too many of them around . I put a 19 millimeter carb from a seller on ebay called lucky blue moon I believe ( exact fit and around $35) and a koso performance variator with the weights supplied . the result was much better acceleration and a top speed of around 52 miles an hour with the standard exhaust at around 7600 rpm. ( I also got a tiny tach ). Those t5c sf10 engines a pretty damn good .

I have a Kymco Cobra racer with road tires. I also have the non-racer version as a parts bike with smaller wheels and larger off road tires much like a Yammy Zuma.
Both need new rubber soon and as I can use either , which is the advantage of each ?
Thanks !

I will check. It may be the issue ! Thanks. Funny thing is it has both a stock clutch and a modified one. One has a stiffer contra and maybe higher rpm springs. With the stock clutch it bites at about 7000 rpm instead of 8000. Still too high , I think but a lot more sluggish.

I have a Kymco cobra racer with a super 9 air cooled engine and a tecnigas pipe . It's stock 50cc.
I did not build this scoot. I bought it this way. The problem is that the clutch does not bite until it reaches 8000 rpm It's great when its moving in traffic because it right at the power band but acceleration suffers as it's not pulling through the rev range. It stays between 7500-10000 rpm.
I have used lighter weights and improved the acceleration and heavier weights which improved top end.
Right now it tops out around 52 on the clock ( not GPS ) With slightly heavier weights it tops out around 58 but the acceleration suffers.
The contra is good because when I go up a hill the rpms stay constant and the speed drops.
All my other scooters have started to " pull " around 4000-5000 rpm. I was considering a 70cc kit but many give more low end grunt and seeing as I'm not engaging till 8000 rpm would this even help ?
Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks !
