So I have a '11 Sunny 150 scoot. The headlights suck on it. So far I have figured out they are AC (on with the motor and not key). I also think my battery is bad because even after a long ride it will end up dying and ill have to kick start it. From what I can tell its the '11 battery so I get a new one. But I am wondering if the charging system might need to be replaced also? The headlights dim and get brighter with the motor rpm. And with my newly acquired scooter knowledge, it makes me think because the headlights change brightness with the RPM it might not be charging well enough..?
I will be installing LED accent lights with a switch for night riding also but would really like to get better headlights figured out.

sounds like a 6 or 8 pole stator setup with a 4 pin regulator. install your new battery don't add or take anything away from the electrical system. See if things stabilize with a new battery. Your lighting/charging system is very sensitive to extra or reduced loads. A little dimming at idle is common in your type setup.
If you want more power for electrics or more stable headlights, you will need to upgrade to 11 pole set up with some wiring changes.

I wouldn't mind upgrading those parts. I bought the scooter to just commute 2 miles down the road for work. But its slowly turning into an obsession. =) Ill start with the battery as I honestly think its the original that came with the scoot. Is there a tech page for the 11 pole? And where do you guys like to get your parts like that? Ive found Scrappy Dog Scooters online. I am only 2 hours away from them so I could even take a drive and get some parts.

Well after having to charge my battery 2 different times, it dies again today at home on my lunch break. Getting a new battery this weekend for sure. Still looking into doing a 11 pole stator. I hate the headlights and will want something better and I also want to put some led accent lights under the scoot with a switch for night time.

This is something I did a few years back. Then have helped many do as well.

Get yourself a new stator and rectifier, for sure. That's what the problem sounds like. If the battery is not charging, it's one of those. If you have a voltmeter, you can check to see which one it is by seeing what kind of current it being supplied by the stator, if it was being converted properly by the rectifier, and if you have problems connecting it to your battery. I had the same problem, and it turned out to be my stator. It wasn't much to fix it, thankfully There are really great videos on this under the "videos" section of this forum.
