We have an initial load of Made in Europe fully programmable CDI units coming for scooters in the next week. They are called the Bolt Box. No computer needed. You can change all variables and advance on the 3 buttons provided on the front of the unit. Rev limit is fully adjustable as well, or set for no rev limit. The Bolt Box has a digital tachometer on the face of it as well. Works with AC stators which are most smaller scooters 50 and 150, or get the DC/AC inverter we sell as well for full DC function and eliminate your ignition stator! Works with GY6, 139QMB, CF250, VOG, JOG, 2T and 4T as well. Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, European and all others. Bolt Box is only $179. and the inverter is only $49. . Try and find anything like that for any price anywhere. CDI's are not on the website yet, so taking pre-orders by phone or email. 702-689-6035 or service@scrappydogscooters.com Will be posted in the performance section of our website next week. www.scrappydogscooters.comwww.chinesescooterparts.comi.imgur.com/yXgSscQ.jpg

Interesting concept. I dream about this, but it would require a fully equipped speed shop to make full use of this. However, when I win the lottery I would look into this along with a turbo for my Majesty 400. If the programming values are wide enough I would think it would work for any single cylinder motor of any size. Not sure about twins though -- for example, think about the B&S Animal go kart racing motor. Expand your market.

Looks like a fun mod, Scrappy. I'm assuming that the rider would tune the CDI by trial and error. That shouldn't be too time consuming if you mount the CDI in an area that allows easy access to the adjustment buttons, like under the front cover.

FINALLY a tuneable true advancing cdi,,,about time,,,,I may have to get one for the Stella ,,,the only way to adjust timing on it is to get an adapter plate and manually move the pickup coil,,,geez

Shouldn't take a full speed shop to use this. I've used it on the road and tuned while riding. I set the unit at 5 degrees advance at all rpm's to start then progressively increased advance until performance peaked at those particular speeds. Keep an ear out for detonation which is an indicator of going too far...or bad gas which is common now with all the ethanol. The unit is programmable to up to 40 degrees advance, which is far enough for anything anywhere. This will work on twins as well if they have a single pickup trigger and wasted spark on in phase cylinders...or simply use two units if they are not in phase. Speed limit is 19,000 rpm's.

John I've been screaming this at the top of my lungs for a few years now,, the Chinese are getting better by every year model year to year,,& if you notice all the more sofisticated they get the prices rise,, it's just plain oldie more work to get stuff made to better quality,,, take for an example a Ferrari testarosa 12 cylinder engine $50-60,000 new replacement,, blow it up hard $3-400 in scrap,,, it's all the work that goes into it to make it

We had these made in Europe to ensure consistent quality and performance. I do agree, however, that chinese product is getting much better. Reminds me of japanese product back in the 60's. Everyone called it jap junk. Didn't take them long to become the standard in quality. We may end up having these made in china later on in order to lower costs, but right now, our standards for the manufacture of these just weren't going to be met at the factory I talked with over there, and the savings wasn't there either. Regardless, these things are cheap compared to anything else.
