The longer wheelbase gives a smoother ride, Kat. Even with the back tire sticking out like that?

It looks awkward, like it just lost it rear wheel. (If you're going to do this stretch the body as well.) .

It's a city boy thing Kat,,,it's ill handling now,,,,geometry is all screwed up ,,and with the super wide tire as you turn it goes up in the back cause the tire is so wide against the very narrow front tire,,and most of these stretch conversions offset the rim because of the drive case for the belt so they turn right better than they turn left,,,it's a fad that will fade into the mist once the enfatuation with the look is gone,,,like the real long chopper forks of the late sixties to mid seventies,,,it's all style no action,,,my test was and still is,,,take anything like that on a dirt track to see how she works,,,

cyborg-- 1) I'm not sure Leo would agree about the long chopper forks--didn't he drive one many years back? 2) while I appreciate your test, I'm not sure I could take Peej to the dirt track and see how he works.... Heck, I'm not sure I would've taken Taury out, and he had pretty darn excellent handling. He could rip a U-ey as easily as my Focus does. Almost better, despite being inches longer between his wheels. Sigh. Damn I miss that wagon. >'Kat

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised how the peej would do in the dirt I think I'll let you do it, and cheer from the sideline Remember that I've only done non-pavement once, and that was pure accident as there was no warning the pavement ended past the hilltop. I had just enough room to hard-brake and dump most of my speed before the dirt. Duck-walked to a driveway and turned around and duck-walked back to the pavement, then resumed driving with a mental note to never take *that* street again! Yeah, I'll take your word that Peej will do fine in the dirt >'Kat

You have to be careful about those Virago as some had big troubles chewing up the starter drive and ring gears which Yamaha had a hard time overcoming. Some feel they changed the name and started calling them V-Stars to distance themselves from the starter problem on the Virago. Some bike shops would have the ring gear machined to let the starter drive more easily engage it. Been almost ten years since I last helped a friend deal with this on a Virago so I don't recall the exact years and CC involved.

It looks like that KLR has done only commuter duties. I didn't see any scratches on the forks or engine cases.

This Honda-Davidson was on CL in Los Angeles earlier in the summer. I don't think it is a 250 and I don't think I can afford it.
