When I had my Pirelli spin balanced it only needed 1/2 an ounce of weight while most other brands others will require much more.
The only valid permanent patch is done in the tread area after dismounting the tire, inspecting the interior for belt damage and then putting in an internal patch after correctly burnishing the patch area so the vulcvanizing compound can react with the rubber of the tire and patch to make a permanent bond. Anything else is a temporary patch and a roll of the dice. Yes some people roll the dice and win however it is your skin that you are gambling with when you do this on a motor bike.
Remember that best practice is to only patch a motorcycle/scooter tire to get you to where you will be having the tire replaced.

I would never patch a front tire even if it was in the tread of the tire. Cuz if for any reason the patch job fails and the tire does. You'll go down with it. Its like 40 bucks at the most for a new one.
