Hi , i purchased a second hand 2009 Kymco People 150 with 9000 k's on it . I did an oil change straight away using a 15W50 4 stroke oil. The person at the bike shop said the remainder of the oil would be fine to use in the transmission. I have since done this twice now , every 2000 km's , but getting my hands on a manual it says to use an SAE90 gear oil. These are really hard to find here . There is a Penrite 80W90 Gear oil i could get , but i was wondering if the engine oil is fine in the transmission as the shop attendant said . After Goggling for ages i cant seem to get a straight answer. Some say both the engine oil and SAE90 gear oil are very similar. Any ideas ?

The old "Twist'N Go" 150cc manual said to use 10w-40 in both the engine and the transmission. I did so without problem.

I got on here looking for the same answer. My last scooter, a Roketa 150, said to use 80- gear oil in the rear. I just bought a SSW Pacifica 150 and says use 10-40 motor oil. I have never heard to use motor oil in a rear end. Maybe things are changing. If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be very helpful.

You are OK, you're Kymco does not have a wet clutch.
