I'm hoping for some advice:I have a hanging idle (at idle) and I'm pretty sure it's not a vacuum leak or cable issue. I think it's either timing or jetting. Can someone advise how to check the timing w/a timing light? Any ideas are appreciated!

One way to check for intake leaks is to spray WD40 around the carb at the seams while running. If through rpm picks up after spraying, you have an intake leak.

Yes, did that as well as the exhaust system. Was hoping for someone very familiar w/these engines that may have domething I missed. Will try to tweak the jetting, and figure out how to check timing w/light. There must be a way!!!!

I have timed quite a few cars with my timing light, as well as a Honda XL125. The Honda 250 clone motor shouldn't be difficult to time, but I have never tried it.

Seems like the cam gear is off by a tooth. I've had the same problem with another bike, same symptom. I hopefully have a go this weekend.

Ok, hanging idle is no more, but I'm getting a high rpm stumble. It's probably jetting but I want to rule out timing. Anyone know how to check timing with a timing gun?
