I had trouble starting automatically my 50cc GY6 after heavy rain. Horn ,fuel gauge, turn signals , lights were all out. I managed to kick start it , took it home connected the battery to charger. Battery voltage reading after charging is 13.4 volts. When I try connect the battery , positive pole first , I am getting sparks the moment negative pole is connected and the wires leading to the 15 A fuse which are nearby are getting very hot to the point they may melt if I leave battery connected. The key is not inserted. .. thanx for the help.

There's a crossed wire somewhere grounding the positive line, or something is hooked up backwards. Probably something close, take all the plastics off and start inspecting all the wires, look for burn marks or cuts or crushed portions of the wires.

That or during the heavy rain water got into something and is causing a dead short. That could be a bit harder to find.

Hope you find the culprit, may have to take all connections one by one and blow compressed air and/or contact cleaner to get rid of any moisture. While you do that I suggest using dielectric grease on all of them as you plug them back together. Good luck.
