You and the cats will be fine. You have a LOT of friends! Our two kitties both had tooth-problems and lost a fang. No problem... They still eat anything that doesn't eat them first.
I'd still recommend using your time away to study law. Your age, sex, the VERY long time it's been since your original trouble... All these may equate to an existing case to reference which could get you out early. Today's rules are SO liberal. Political correctness is valued far more than justice. That COULD be to your advantage. The right advocate can portray you as a VICTIM, rather than a CRIMINAL.
