On the newer model the top of the camper itself is similar to a Crawdad boat.
There is a pretty lengthy thread here that has most of those Pathe videos posted.
Those old Lambretta were pretty sturdy and when they made them into trucks the same transmission from the scooter held up admirably.

Now, see, the sidecar itself should be made into a detachable boat of its' own...or perhaps a mini-submarine... The lack of a DOOR in the scooter-towed model seems to be a bit of an issue... Pretty cool, though!

On YouTube just search on Pathe' and you will get some very interesting blasts from the past.
After WWII there was a lot of this type of interesting personal innovation in Britain on the minimalist front as they recovered from the War.
