Right after that story they did the story on the Affluenza guy. He's intoxicated, plows into a car on the side of the road, killing 4 people, his lawyer claims he's too rich to be held responsible, and he gets probation and no jail time at all. If that isn't open, unabashed, corruption, I don't know what is. I'm fairly familiar with that mess... It was well-covered in the Dallas news, and has been featured on some of the "crime shows" like "Forensic Files". The judge was pretty close-mouthed about the probation, but hinted that she and her family wanted to remain among the living...
The little twerp had NO chance from early childhood. The prosecutors relate that his parents were quite rich from a family business, and grew THAT into a thug-empowered empire through illegal activities.
Again, the prosecutors say the parents literally tossed the kid out as a teen, into an expensive home of his own, with all the spending money he wanted, where he "lived to party". (Now THAT is a recipe for disaster) and when the inevitable happened, the parents used their money and EXTREMELY dangerous associates to literally bully the court into giving the kid probation.
A lot of money and killer associates will get you off most every time. Sad... But it's been that way for thousands of years.
That kid is on a fast track to an early grave, but he's probably long past the point of listening to reason. Apparently, a chip off the old block. His dad seems quite proud.
I don't want to be near his truck on my scooter, either...

The more I read about some of you-alls' towns, the happier I am living here. Not that it's perfect or anything, and I've witnessed some scary road-raging (not at me, thankfully!), but it's not the norm, not yet at least. And def' not Leo's norm of guns at the ready. Plus seems like my pink coat gets me some respect on the road. I'll notice a car really tailgating in the next lane, but gets behind me and gives me big clearance. Stuff like that, and happens all the time. Only thing I can figure is men's chivalry kicks in and they want to protect the girl on the scooter, and women's mothering kicks in for the same. Not that I'm in any way fooled into thinking some idiot texting can't smack into me, or something else happen. >'Kat

That career criminal is a real bad apple. He should have already been wearing a tracking device and had his license revoked a very long time ago.
What makes what he did more reprehensible is that he appeared to slow down well below the posted and goaded people to pass him just so he could pull this stunt.
Hopefully the charge will be attempted murder and not just negligent driving so he will be more likely spending the rest of his days behind bars.

Well, I fully agree... The guy did slow down, goading the biker to pass improperly, then attempted two counts of premeditated capital murder. What he did is equivalent to throwing two innocent people into a tree-chipper. The "Fargo syndrome" perhaps... If he'd have used a gun, all the media would be throwing him under the bus, but with a car, well...
"We all need cars, so I guess we have to give a guy the benefit of the doubt..." "After all, I wouldn't want to be charged with a CRIME just for being a lousy driver..." Cheesh!
At least that's how it usually goes. With this guy on VIDEO, it may be a little tougher on him, especially since he has a history of violence, chasing children with a shotgun, etc.
I doubt he'll get off with probation, but will end up serving SOME hard time. At 72 (and he's been doing this stuff a LONG time...) even a few years will keep him from road-mayhem until he may be too old to get a license. Of course, cretins like him seldom even bother with things like a license or insurance.
It should be noted that the bike rider has already been issued citations for HIS infractions... Yeah, authorities couldn't resist THAT... He DID pass improperly, but after being goaded into it, and a cycle being able to safely pass in SECONDS, give me a break... It will be REALLY interesting to see how the various insurance companies handle this nightmare... LOL!
I'll bet all insurance companies involved will refuse to pay off, citing BOTH drivers actions being wrong, and disclaiming liability... Like when a creep steals your car, robs a convenience store and totals your car in the ensuing police-chase. The insurance co. will say NO COVERAGE since the car was being used in the commission of a crime.
And you're lucky if you're not CHARGED as an accessory after the fact, for PROVIDING THE VEHICLE!
YES... That DOES happen.
Good lessons here for everybody...
Ride safe!

No doubt or probation for this guy as he is regularly doing this and has a number of priors for the same offense against him.
The DA is pushing for two consecutive 20 years sentences due to his most recent priors against two other bikers one of which also had a passenger.
He seemed to be more bold because he got off easy with a reduced reckless driving conviction on the priors with a light penalty however now they are throwing the book at him especially considering his comment caught on video about the people he had just hit.

Yup, sad time. The old guy was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hopefully, the Texas DMV will pull his license for good. Usually the DMV really hates it when you purposfully try to harm someone with a motor vehicle. And I'm guessing that if you live in rural anywhere, it's gotta suck to not have a drivers license.. Not that I think that will stop him.Oh, and first his story to the press was that he swerved to avoid something in the road, then it was the insect in the car, then it was that he thought it was one of those crazy motorcyclists that are always passing him doing wheelies.
