I would like to make the front of my scooter to look like a Ford Model T with the radiator front and large brass lights. Any thoughts, ideals or sources? My wife is ready to refer me to mental health services. I check out the Model T part site but way over priced.

Shouldn't be that hard to do,,,major suffering of the aerodynamics tho,,,and the weight so the quickness and terminal speed is out the window

Your scooter if the one in the picture with those cases up front and boxes in the back is already overloaded potentially to an unsafe level so adding more weight may not be that good an idea. Your wife may have the right take on this.

Well... what can I say? I got as far as putting a car tire on my scooter. Weight will be a concern if you actually try to use Model T like parts on your bike. If you just do it on a smaller scale and with light plastics, paint, aluminum tubing or angle and metal screen material, it may not be so heavy. It would only need to "LOOK" Model T... Still, aerodynamics at the least would be detrimental. Funny, but I thought about doing a very narrow 57 Chevy sort of thing out of fiberglass that could relatively easily be fastened onto one of my scooters and ride it up and down Woodward Ave. between Ferndale & Pontiac during the Woodward Dream Cruise held each year here in Michigan. Oooohh! just found these inspirational pics: www.popmeh.ru/upload/iblock/ee3/ee3f10b2fc2f3c8cd45a173fb1fb6dc1.jpga2.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/12/74393d800dc1c3317a351278cf6ca031/l.jpgOh! I almost forgot to ask... Why?

Yes light weight is key to this. Randy Grub covers this in his decopod conversions on weighing how much plastic and such he removes from the bikes before adding on his custom parts which are generally lighter however he uses a Piaggio scooter as the foundation for his conversions since they have almost a 500 lb load capacity.

Thanks good thoughts. Why? All I can answer is Why not. As for my wife I tell her she married ? me so she has no one to blame. More of my ideas fail than success but that all the fun of having a scooter. It's good to be part of a great group of scooter owners.

Hey, most ALL successful inventors fail more often than they succeed... When Thomas Edison was trying to invent the electric light-bulb, his detractors noted that he had approximately 10,000 FAILURES to make it work.
When asked in an interview if he wasn't ready to give up, he simply said, of course not, I've just eliminated 10,000 ways it WON'T work... He was getting Close!
If you want a scooter that looks like a Model-T, go for it! It can't be anymore off-the-wall than that '57 Chevy chopper... And, the Model-T "radiator" can't be much more of a "schnoz" than the rad on my old Kymco... LOL!
go ahead and "gopher it"...
