Have not been able to correct my noise issue (Help! Valve issues) on my 161QMK-A engine and since this is my main transportation, I can't take any chances with it failing.
I've decided to replace the engine with a new 150cc short case (downgrading), since I can't seem to find a replacement in my current size(168.9cc).
So my main question is regarding the electrical, namely the voltage regulator/rectifier. My current engine has a 11pole AC stator and regulator that goes with it. All of the new engines I've looked at seem to have an 8 pole stator.
Electrical diagrams make my head spin and trying to figure out if the current regulator will work or what I'm going to need to do.
I have a brand new 11 pole on the scooter so I'm thinking of swapping the new engine with this one and the magneto rotor. OR should I leave the 8 pole on and will the regulator still work? My current regulator is 6 pin and I have only been able to find one online that the wires match Exactly (3 male-3 female) in the same color-wire sequence. While there are other 6 pin regulators out there the sequence of wires are all different.

I've done the same thing sort of. Take the stator from the old engine, put it in the new engine, put the new engine in the scooter and plug everything in. Pretty simple compared to what you've done so far.

why not use a long case? you can put any size wheel on a long case. Besides, doesn't scrappy have short case 150's too? Cato

1 just bought a 150cc short case engine. I wouldn't imagine I could put a long case on without some serious modifications??? my point was that I couldnt find a 168.9cc in a short case so I downgraded to 150cc

why would it take serious modifications? the case is just longer. that's it.

why would it take serious modifications? the case is just longer. that's it. From what I can see the rear connections are different as well. but its a moot point, I've already got the 150cc short case coming
