Yeah, I know where it is. It's back behind the flywheel. I've just been getting about .1vAC from it, so there's something wrong. I'm not sure if the unit is bad or if that's due to the low battery voltage. I get the same voltage from the pcikup whether I use the kickstart or electrical start.
Anywho, tested for continuity between the dash and the ground, and it's fine. I'm gonna try to get the ground sparkling clean so I'm super sure the contact is good before I replace a battery. e.e

Sanded all the rust off the part where the ground hooks up. Battery still drops to 9.25vAC with the dash, and below 8 volts when I hook in the taillights.
Could I try jumping it off a nonrunning car to see if I get anything from the pickup line?

Sure you can hook it up to a car battery and it should spind your starter and hopefully it will start. If it does let it warm up and then check your battery voltage again just idleing. Then HOLD it at around 4K rpms and see if it is charging at 4K it should read around 13+ if not it is not charging. Alleyoop
