Wow!
That REALLY sucks!!! As with lightning striking in the same place twice... It's just as likely to strike again in the same place as anywhere else. But it STILL sucks!
This business of being surgically-attached to a cell phone while driving is WAY out of hand. Statistics show more accidents caused by talking, and especially "texting while driving" than by drunk driving. Some jurisdictions are trying to pass laws naming texting while driving the same as reckless discharge of a firearm, complete with 10 years behind bars. Even talking on a phone while driving is potentially forcing suicide on others.
Some of our local cops have bumper-stickers on their cars saying "SHUT UP AND DRIVE!" I agree.
Anyway, once your leg finally does fully heal, it's gonna be mighty strong... Dang-near bulletproof! Just right for kicking the butts of ratchet-jaws who go down the road gawking at nekkid pix of their "friends with benefits" instead of watching the road around them.
Our prayers, and those of many of your on-site saddle-pals are with you for a FAST recovery!
Stay safe!

I think you're right about climbing back on a little soon While you are making a FULL recovery. look over REALLY BRIGHT safety gear, and VERY LOUD horns! After my wreck I wore a safety vest every day until I put on my LED strips. Would you believe a big dually truck almost pulled out in front of me the first time I had it on? Brakes screeching and all. Talk about discouraging! I felt like a dorky looking crossing guard, and I had to doubt its effectiveness after that. People still kept puling out in front of me, too. People are just not able to handle all of this input any more. They want to talk with their friends in the vehicle, and play on their phones, and stare out the windows, and eat and drink, all while maybe putting a little effort into actually driving. I think the self driving car can't come soon enough for all of our sakes. These LEDs I put on are great, and have made riding 100% better. I guess nothing gets people's attention nowadays like a little "bling".

I would like to make a suggestion, Ricardo. I was in a wreck last year. I was hyper-vigilant and all of these people eeking out into the roads and not noticing me were really freaking me out, so I put on some LED strips in legal amber color, and a white strip under the front wheel well. People say they can see me a mile away, and I have noticed very few "oopsies" since I put them on. I feel a lot safer now, and I can really see the difference it has made. If anyone wants help with them, I have some strips and can prepare them for installation on your bike. Because other drivers may just see your headlight/s and not much else, they may not be able to process the visual cues they need to make a proper assessment of your distance, leading to the illusion that you are farther away than you appear. They may assume you are a vehicle that is far away, and ignore you as a potential threat. I think people can get a better reading of where and what you are as you are coming down the road with these lights on. You get their attention, and they can see more of your actual size and shape because of the positioning of the light strips. Even in daylight, the lights show up very well against the body panels. This helps them to not run over you.
Hey, GREAT idea! And simple.
Have a bone on the Old Chopper Guy!
While headlights are brighter, the amber color may well make a scooter more noticeable. I know I reduced the tailgating phenomenon with extra lights on my scoot's rear trunk. I think I'll do the front and sides like yours, too!
Good post!

Awwww dude! Really sorry to hear (and see) that. On a positive note. Chicks dig scars?!?!
*not that you want to hear suggestions. 99 times out of 100 it is better to stay upright and stay on the brakes the whole way in if collision is unavoidable.

Driver less cars is the only solution, no matter how hard are the laws, laws can be broken, and you need a cop on every corner to effectively enforce them.

Hey Ricardo, heal well and fast.. Looks like you are using up all the bad luck at a quick burst. Try not to get the impression that the world is trying to beat you up. Everything changes.. Live long and happy.. Tomorrow is another idiot in a car, but it'll probably miss you...

spandi's right, at least with me. Just can't get all that turned on by scars. Of course, that could be 'cause I've got more than my fair share of them on knees, wrists, elbow, toe...
And semo's right, I do want to smack some sense into my dear ricardo. I didn't know you've been buzzing around with a still-healing leg. Bad rico. BAD dog! Smack smack smack! You ask that dr when it's safe for your healing to drive again. Period. Like I'm going to do with my foot dr when I see him in a couple of Mondays. "So Doc, I assume scooting is out for the rest of the season. Will next spring be okay though? Please?" (big eyes, although he seems immune to the kitty-'Kat plead)
It's one continuing reason why Peej only has about 2500 miles on him. I keep ending up with some sort of surgery or another that takes me off the scooting list. SIGH!
Seriously, follow the dr's advice. Mine has already declared I may not play piano at the Jazz band gig 10 days after my surgery--repeat, am NOT to do the piano thing. Which is another question--why not? Not like I play piano with my toes. But he has said no, so no it is.
Kidding aside, heal up quickly, and take care of yourself. And I'm so sorry it happened twice. Once was terrible, twice is just...well...it's...heck, I don't know a word awful enough for it. Sux beyond sux.
