Hi there from the Mile High city here in Denver, CO USA. I wanted to just get some info before doing anything too drastic. I am about 6'-1" and a bit over 300lbs, heavy and muscly, 35yo. I have looked at motorcycles, but they really aren't too comfortable for me. I've really been looking into 300cc+ scooters. It has been since high school that I road any motorcycles. I have been a bicyclist on & off over the years, so no problem there. A few I have looked at are the following (most to least likely to be my purchase): Suzuki Burgman 650 or 400 Yamaha Majesty Yamaha TMAX 500 Honda Silverwing BMW C650GT Kymco MyRoad 700i (may not be available here in the US?) Gilera GP800 (may not be available here in the US?) What is your opinion of these? Best? Are they Good Choices for me? My intended purpose is mostly urban roads around the city for commuting. I am about 12 miles from where I work downtown. Free parking for scooters/motorcycles is my draw. Also, it is just fun to ride 2-wheeled vehicles. I won't be on any freeways, but don't want to necessarily abandon that option either. One main road I travel to & from work is a 55mph zone for about 4 miles with one lane being HOV. Other than that, speeds don't rise above 35. Looking for something to accomplish this, be comfortable, easy and able to hold my weight without me looking like a Grizzly Bear on a Tricycle. Thanks for the input, and I am happy to be here!

Being fairly large myself, 6' 240. I get along on a 250 ok, but when it comes to long decent hills we struggle to keep up the pace, Freeway riding is out of the question for me, I can go 68+ but it gets sketchy on 10' tires. About 56mph, maybe 60 is the top of my comfort zone.
So if your looking for more speed look for the bigger tire scoots, I would love to have a Tmax. Having extra time on my hands I've seen several great scooter reviews on youtube.... Like these...

Thank you, I think it's funny how they call 300cc scooters 'mid-size' now. 250's used to be called maxi-scooters!

Welcome to the forum. Remember when 400 ci was a huge motor for a car? Now Chevy sells crate motors over 500 ci. I think any scooter over 200cc will pull you just fine. I'm considerably over two bills and my a 125cc scooter pulls me with aplomb.

All of these scoots are well known for their reliability. With all things being considered, I think it boils down to the dealership factor. Personally, I'm cheap, and was a former SYM dealer and a grand buys a lot of nice accessories.
