Im trying to buy h4 bulbs for my scoot. Either eBay or scrappy-dogs Im guessing that I will need two prong bulbs. I will choose either 18 or 35w models 12v h4's Anyone see any problems with my choices? I have a 2011 gmw 4 stroke 83cc. I have a 9 amp battery. It came with a 4 amp I believe. Thhe bulb in the picture is a 35w.

This is what i bought. m.ebay.com/itm/141693392435 I figure I can wire my scooters existing wires to the tabs on my new h4 35w 12v bulbs and expect them to work and not melt my housing. Does anyone see any problems with this? I know that they will fit in the existing holes with the metal clips no problem.

I use a 65/55 w H4 without a problem (but i only use it at night 'cause the high power is more drain on my OEM stator than I want - have a simple 64-chip LED for daytime riding). Check with GEH - he followed suit, but he has DUAL headlights. Until he gets his 11-pole stator installed he has only one of the bulbs hooked up - still WAY brighter than the crappy ChinaBulb. Suggest you go to Autozone (or any place) and get an H4 plug. Permanently wire it, and then you have a normal clip on / clip off socket for your H4.

Dunno how yours is wired. If you put an 11-pole in you don't need to worry about it. What I did was put in a little bank of illuminated switches. Have flashers on both the LED driving light and the low beam. With 4 switches i can control exactly as I want - low beam either steady or flashing; driving either steady of flashing. And - flip the high beam switch on and regardless of the rocker switches I instantly get steady high (which i use at night).

Getting rid of that original bulb is a good idea, and I like rcq92130's idea about changing out the socket. Those original scooter bulbs don't last, this seems like good way away around it.

I put the 11 pole stator on mine. I have a job where I go in at 5 am, and drive 35 min there in the dark. I put 2 55w halogen driving lights, bought from Autozone, on the front of mine. That is 110w of light. I run them off of the white wire on my 7 wire regulator. Holds steady at exactly 12v DC. They come on when I crank my scoot, turn off when it's not running. I also have 1 extra LED driving light on a switch that I can turn on too. Even with the 110w of lights running, it charges my battery at 14.5v.
I put a car headlight bulb in my headlight, and melted the lens, but these driving lights work better, anyways. I strongly recommend the 11 pole stator, with 7 wire regulator.
