Where are you guys getting these wires at (besides jumper cables)? I went to Lowes and not sure what ones to get. There are like 20 different wires there.

what about from the engine to the frame , then back to the battery? I had to keep the factory wire from the negative battery to valve cover. But an addition wire was added that runs from the forks to negative battery.

I stopped by Home Depot today and bought another 10' of jumper cable gauge wire. It's was about $10. The only thing preventing me from doing all the changes now is the over bearing heat we are dealing with in southern Texas. The temp in my garage right now in the middle of the night is over degrees. I can not go over 30 minutes working without being drenched in sweat and my beer too warm. LOL

LOL I know how you feel, but it is fun trying to get a kiss when you're done, with your face oily black from wiping the sweat away with dirty hands and rags! Here in Vegas, we put an extra blanket on when it gets down to at night!

Okay... I have a final update to my problem. I was able to get the scoot up and running. What I forgot to mention when I changed the starter was that I also checked my valve lash when I had the plastics off. What I failed to do is reconnect my valve cover ground wires. UGH!!!!
The electrical parts arrived and I decided to only change the spark plug boot and wire since they were NGK and hopefully more reliable than the stock parts. The rest were saved as spare parts.
So what I learned from this error is several things. The extra ground wire that I ran from the negative battery terminal to front of my forks allowed to engine to run and electronics operate once kick started. The second lesson I learned is to always check the valve cover grounds when putting the valve cover back on. This will be one mistake that will never happen again!
