I don't care if anyone comes up with a better answer. Leo gets a v-prize just for making me crack up. Leave it to a Texan to make it all about guns. Ah Leo, I do adore you, too. Here, let me open up my bag o' v-prizes. Reach on in and pick out something good. Which will probably involve guns in some way. Or more likely guns on scooters. You ol' Texan you. |‹* >'Kat
Kat,
You are definitely my favorite saddle-pal... Not quite sure what a V-prize is, but many thanks! The number-one requested Christmas gift last year in America was a Bible, number two: AMMUNITION! Fortunately I have a supply of both! Yup, this IS America... LOL!
Your scoot looks GREAT with bags. No fatter than my Minnie Mouse... And the extra space is SO handy. Makes the scoot more solid looking too.
HOW did you EVER get out of the INDIAN shop without "Jonsing" for a new CHIEF!!! Those bikes are to die for!!! Woo-HOO!
You will find you look at your scoot as a more serious "grocery getter" with the bags. Still needs some reflectors, fringe and whitewalls though... LOL!!!
Thanks much for the compliments... I do enjoy making folks chuckle... Brightens up the day!
Ride safe,
Leo

A fabulous v-prize is a virtual prize that you make up in your imagination. One v-prize I gave away was some high-dollar sporta car. I forget now the make. So Leo, reach on into my bag o' awesomeness and see what your imagination pulls out. And do tell us what you get ! ***** What's funniest about me adding saddlebags is that I've only once needed more carrying room. And that was because the store had a buy one-get one on the party-sized chips. Although it was a bit snug in the seatbag before I left a pair of black shoes at work for scooting days. It'll be interesting to see if I do end up using the saddlebags, or if they usually sit there empty. But it is nice having them, just in case. And the price was stupid-good. And they were the kind I liked, sporty-styled and without fringe and conchos and big stitching. >'Kat

I went ahead and took a picture of the weird sticky-outty thing on the side, under the seat-- Yes, that's a matching one on the other side. A fabulous v-prize to the best answer for "What the heck is it for?" Say, and a shot looking down at the underseat storage area now-- That hole just to the right of the fat strap is where the sticky-outty thing goes in. But there's no latch or anything in there. Just a hole. ?? Bonus prize to the best answer for both, hole and thing. >'Kat You hand is on one of the two back locator tabs that center/stabilize the seat so it does not damage the body work with the latch further back past the vent to dry out the foam padding in case it gets water in it. Your second pic shows the latch plate has two machine screws holding it in place which may allow for a little adjustment to raise it up however with the bags slid back those wide straps could have blocked the hook from getting to the striker. If you find them too far forward you might be able to slide them back until the are just forward of the latch mechanism and then punch holes in the wide strap for the feet to go through.

OK, Kat, now I understand...
Make it a car that RUNS... LOL! I have TWO old cars, both of which have been totally reliable for around 20 years. Suddenly, BOTH have gone south at the SAME TIME! So... until I can save some pennies and find the time and skill, old "Minnie Mouse" is my ONLY transportation.
I have joined the ranks of so many members who depend solely on the scoot to get around. BEATS WALKING!
You may not use the saddlebags a lot, but when you do need them, they are SO handy! And they do add substance to the scooter. They just make it look solid and substantial... different from everybody else's.
Enjoy!!!
Leo

You can fill the bags with tools and spare parts and gain some "street cred" with the mechanic crew

I considered saddle bags, but I just couldn't do that to my sleek TMAX, so I built a trailer instead for the times I wanted some haulage capacity. It only took me two or three years to get it right enough for interstate travel.

Hm. I just noticed my reply to rocky seems to've evaporated. Hm.
As I remember my reply, I'm giving rocky a fabulous v-prize too, despite that he had to go and get all legit in his explanation instead of entertaining. As for raising the latch, the mechanism is already almost at the cover. The Indian guy thought of that but said there wasn't any clearance to adjust higher.
The ScooterWorld guy made sure the bags don't ride so far forward they interfere with me. And riding home, I was totally unaware of their existence. So obviously the bags don't bother me being way forward. He also checked clearance with the exhaust and said there's no issue there either.
So all righty, rocky, reach into my magic bag and pick yourself a fab v-prize!

Leo--wow! that brand new 2015 hybrid sure looks good parked in front of your house! If only I could make it a real one for ya! I sure do hear you on cars breaking down. Thinking back, my old wagon just was NOT a good car. Except it was rarely usual stuff. The tranny twice, the head thrice. Otherwise it was weird crap like I removed the key but the engine kept running. Or once the key wouldn't come out at all no matter where I put the ignition thing. I put a LOT of my money into that wagon. And yet, I'm still in love with him. The bad car. ricardo, that'll only work 'til I open my mouth. Then words like "ignition thing" come out. And "sticky-outty things". And any street cred I might've gained just immediately went "poof"! null, I'm impressed. But what happens when you stop at a garage sale and didn't bring your trailer? I'm more with null than Leo. I really prefer how Peej looks bare. It's why I passed on the lighted trunk I found on CL that would've matched for something like $70. I put on a box that size and just did NOT like something hanging off the back like an afterthought. But like Leo said, bags are just too potentially useful. And I know myself, I always end up with more than I went in for at the grocery store. >'Kat

Actually Kat those are the famous "Piaggio Fangs" that put the "bite" on Italian scooter fans!
