So I got a new set of Tour master Cortech saddlebags yest from Goodwill, and have been trying to mount them on Peej. Except I totally canNOT get them to go under the seat, and get the seat to latch. I've tried them going both ways, no luck.
I really don't want them over the seat as that's not convenient when I need in the compartment under.
Any thoughts what I might be not doing right?

Maybe you could run them over the seat and then attach them to the seat with straps (like sleeping bag straps) . That way, the bags will not fall off when you raise the seat.

Try a thin shim under the seat latch to give it more room so it will close over the extra thickness

First pic is the set up. Second is one BIG reason I already hate the bags over the seat--'cause the seat won't stay up on its own now. And that's with the bags empty. Imagine the extra fun it'll be with stuff in the bags! Plus I have to unhook the back "tie-down" straps (dunno what else to call them, even though they really don't tie they clip). Plus the bags fall in as shown in the pic, so when I close it I have to grow an extra arm to get them clear. Plus it's heavy. Plus it bugs me. Plus plus plus. Third is my underseat compartment. Dunno what's making it not latch with the straps going over it instead of over the seat. The latch itself it clear. I turned the bags around so the narrower strap is between the latch and the whateverit'sfor thing sticking out that I guess inserts into the little opening that's at the top of the photo. Still didn't latch. Pushed on it, slammed it, no latching. SIGH. >'Kat

bender, it's not that they fall off when I open the seat. The seat bag holds them in place. Except that's another "plus"--the seat bag now shifts forward when I open, whereas before it was pretty secure in its spot. A minor shift, but nothing like now.

Except I'm pretty certain it's not a dance (that would be the shimmy).... Oh, wait, isn't that what they make in prison for weapons? >'Kat

Yeah, I found that youtube, too. That's where I learned that those loops should NOT go around my blinkers, despite that seemed the absolute ideal spot. Instead I looped them together and ran them around the middle support of my luggage rack and across the back. That's the plus about unhooking the tie-downs. And I did try them in reverse with the narrow strap in back. Still no latching. Plus with that, I prefer them right-way so the reflective is in back where they do more good for being seen. It seriously can NOT be this difficult to attach saddlebags...can it?... ..... >'Kat

Btb, considering I've never been in jail, and as far as I know am not acquainted with anyone who has to that level, I count "shim" as close enough to "shiv". Aren't you impressed I was even that close? Heck, I am . >'Kat

Kat,
I love those bags! And they look extra-good on a large-wheel scoot like yours. There must be a simple way to mount them.
On my old Kymco, the saddlebags I used also were "supposed" to go OVER the seat. Like you, I wanted them UNDER the seat. The "bridge" between them was much too narrow so I simply added a bit of parachute-cord between them to make them as wide as needed. This also allows me to "aim" them up or down, front or rear as desired just by adjusting the ties under the seat.
My old-style bags are much different from yours, having only a 1/4" thick vinyl piece between them, but, I think you could get yours on in some similar fashion. Worst case, you could use a piece of heavy vinyl, leather, or nylon fastened between the bags, which would be thin enough to allow the seat to close.
Otherwise, the "shim" which could be a piece of metal, plastic, or other DURABLE material sandwiched into the seat latch could indeed give some "wiggle-room" for the latch to engage.
Here's some pix of my 2-minute "installation"... May be of some help.
While my bags have tie-downs, I don't use them. With the seat closed, the "bridge" vinyl under the seat is sufficiently "pinched" between the seat bottom, and seat-pan, that the bags are immobile. Even when filled with heavy stuff, the bags remain where they belong without slipping left or right, fore or aft.
Your scoot is just BEGGING for these bags you got, so keep at it and you'll be rewarded! I use mine all the time, and they add a LOT of extra carry-space to old "Minnie Mouse"!
Ride safe, and if we can give any better advice, we'll all try! Those bags are too good not to enjoy!
Ride safe!

You may need to put a spacer where the hook/loop for the latch bolts to the underside of the seat so it will extend further down to meet the latch mechanism. You may find a couple of flat steel washers at each bolt location may be all that is required. You may also need to get longer bolts to make up for the thickness of the washers/

I really do adore you guys. Because I have no clue how to get to the latch bolts. Oh, wait, do you mean the part from the seat that inserts into the hole where the latchy part catches and holds it? Is that where I'd put the shim then?
I honestly thought you both meant I somehow accessed the latching part and somehow inserted shims (NOT shivs, thank you) down in there. And wondered how exactly that would do anything for giving more room.
OOoo, I'm kinda feeling mechanicky here! I'm going out and seeing how the hooky-loop part fastens onto the seat's underside!

Scratch that idea. The loop seems to be part of the seat's underside. It's all one part, nothing like a base bolted onto the seat-bottom. Now what? Sigh. And I was so excited about getting out my screwdriver and adding washers. Or a shim. Or even a shiv. SIGH. >'Kat
