that thing would be awesome with a 750 flattracker mill in it,,,, ,,,if i'm not mistaken they were made by cushman then badged as harleys,,,i may be wrong tho

I like the Harley scooters better than the Cushmans because they had larger wheels. Somebody should produce Cushman replicas with larger diameter wheels.

I actually REMEMBER these... I turned 14 in 1960. In '60, in Illinois, you could get a "scooter/moped" license at 14. I had a SWELL dad. He was going to buy one for me to ride while I saved up to get a used Harley when I turned 16!
A few weeks before my 14th birthday, the license laws age-requirement changed back to 16... I was BUMMED! In addition to the Harley "Topper" scooter, they also made a truly dismal 50cc "motorbike" and the seldom-seen (today, anyway) "Hummer". Now, the Hummer was powered by a REALLY dismal stone-age 1920's era European-style 2-stroke. That motor was PITIFUL...
But... The REST of the Hummer was GREAT!!! The front fork was a nice telescopic one, with a big-twin headlight. The tank was a Sportster tank, the frame was VERY reminiscent of the hard-tail, WWII "45" flathead Army bike. All-in-all, it was a SWEET rigid-frame, tele-fork bike that LOOKED great. A natural bobber just waiting for that awful Fred Flintstone motor to be replaced with a fresh, NOS war-surplus 45" flathead and tranny (available along with similar INDIAN motors mail-order for around $10, shipping included). THAT is only $100 in today's bucks!!!
The illustrator REALLY took some "artistic license" here... Very subtly, the art almost looks like the motor is a flathead V-twin... How SNEAKY... LOL!
Here's how the ancient little piston-port 2-stroke REALLY looks... HeHeHe... This motor was NOT a high-perf screamer... Designed more for German or Eastern-Bloc delivery bikes... Seems like the first ones were around 125cc, later enlarged to 165cc, but only around 3-5 hp... But, OH, that classic Hog cosmetic look on the REST of the bike!
Chicago had a LOT of those re-powered Hummers running around in the fifties. Slim, low-slung and mega-cool, today, such a bike would STILL be over-the-top!
We DID have some truly MONUMENTAL potential bikes back in my misspent youth... LOL!
