I installed the new carb today, it is the "CVK performance carburetor kit" from Scrappy, I'm disappointed with the performance, the stock carb performed a lot better, it does feel more responsive, but the RPMs won't go farther than 5k, and I feel a little hesitation at WOT. What can be wrong? I noticed the stock carb had 2 vacuum hoses, one on the manifold and the other on the side of the carb, this one doesn't have the one on the side, just the one on the manifold. My engine is a 1P52QMI GY6 125cc. www.scrappydogscooters.com/125_150cc_Performance.html

I'm not sure what you mean when you say it has a vacuum line on the manifold? Are you talking about the intake manifold that is bolted to the engine? I'm not familiar with 150cc carbs, but don't they use a vacuum line from the intake manifold to raise the needle? It definitely sounds like your needle is not rising. When that happens, acceleration will be fine, but it will not get up to speed.
If there is a nipple coming off of the part of the carb that looks a little like those cheap petcocks, does that need to be connected to a vacuum line coming off of the manifold? I have a 50cc, and the needle is raised differently in those.
Take the top off, and raise the needle up and down manually a few times, and see if it catches.

I will check the needle, and yes, I'm talking about the intake manifold vaccum line that is connected to the petcock. The size of the carb is 30mm.

Is it ok if there is no accelerator pump? I look everywhere on the new carb, and couldn't find a place to connect that vacuum line.

Stock 125cc? No cam, Big valve head? BBK? Exhaust? I humbly say you've lost Velocity with that larger carb, very important. Slapping on a big hole on a stocker your going backwards.
Hey you got any good Diving or Fishing close by?

What size is it? Usually, you find those carbs on 50cc 4t scoot, not on 125/150cc.

Hey you got any good Diving or Fishing close by? I'll be adding a 59mm BBK and a performance head in a few days, the carb arrived earlier. Everything is nearby in this country, we consider a 2 hour drive as "far", lol.

A 125 main jet might be a bit big it your engine is stock. I would pull the spakplug out to see if its the color. Ideal would be coffee/chocolate brown.

If you're gonna upgrade to a BBK, i would keep the new carb for that kit. Would be a wait of time and effort to slap it on your stock engine only to take it out to put it on your pimped up new one.
Just my 2cents.

I will put the stock carb back on and wait for the BBK, you're right, it is a waste of time to tune the new carb without the BBK and then tune it again for the BBK. I have no patience, I had to try it!

Pistonguy . If you come a little farther south, Panama the fishing and diving are good .a friends boat just pulled a 46 lb Dorado out the other day and isle iguana is one of the good dive sights off the coast near Pedasi. We are just starting the rainy season so the water is calmer and this area gets the least amount of rain in Panama .we use the USD and many airlines have direct flights as we are the latin america hub, and not being biased we are also a safer and cheaper cou try than CR, in fact I have met many gringos that left there and now live here , not saying we don't have prolbems but not as bad as CR
