So I am looking to replace my CDI and coil. I am planning on moving the stuff from Scooter #1 to to #2, and put the new stuff on my best scoot. Is the Casoli CDI (NYC Scooter Parts) currently the best replacement CDI? What a bout a coil? Will any old ebay orange coil work as good as any other?

I have one of the orange coils . the plug boot was junk , so I replaced it with an NGK boot and all is good. I've had the orange coil for over three years. Im still using the blue progressive racing cdi " over three years also" . some have had problems with them , and some haven't. If this one ever goes , I'll buy a better brand cdi , and coil , but for now its still going strong. Same with my carb . I bought a cheap 32mm pumper carb and its been going strong for over 3 years also , but if it ever goes , I'll prob buy an actual good brand name carb , just for the heck of it.

Will any old ebay orange coil work as good as any other? IMO, yes. I own an orange one for one of my A/C scoots and a few of the blue ones for my PFS Universal DC CDI's... All work fine... I have an orange one on my new 4 valve, 155cc I just built.

what are you looking to do here? Well, the REAL issue is that, on scoot #1, there is a hesitation at 50ish mph. Often when I give it gas, sometimes when just maintaining speed. Looking in some old topics, I have a list of things including: not enough air, not enough fuel, coil. The spark plug looked good, the valves are adjusted. So I am going to get a new coil and a set of main jets. I don't know what jet size I have, so I will get a set and go up one jet size when I get the jet set. But since the coil on scoot#2 is looking kind of ragged, I thought I would replace the coil on scoot #1, and move that coil over to scoot #2. I really don't want to change the characteristics of scoot #1 at all. It is fantastic... it will climb all but the steepest hills at 40+mph, has great pickup, has 60+mph top end in the flats. Basically, it is doing all you can ask for in a stock 150cc gy6. I would just like to get rid of that hesitation that it does at speed. I also have a third spare engine that I got in the deal for scoot #2. all spares are going to a bench setup to see if that engine runs. I was told that it has virtually no miles... that the scooter it came in was crushed during shipment. so any spares will build a small setup to start the engine. It would be nice to know if I have a swapable replacement.. thus the CDI.
