How's it going , I know this is only suppose to be for up to 200cc , but this has nothing to do with the engine so I'll post it here.
Our friend john from NY got in touch with me the other day and said he got a call from a lady about 2 hrs north of me . she has a 300 ice bear trike and about a year ago got home from a ride and noticed the back right wheel was loose ( possibly leaning ) . she could not find any place to fix it and called john . after talking to her I decided that I'd drive up Saturday and see what the problem was . she thinks is a bearing , but ill find out for sure 2moro. After I find the problem , I'll have her order the part and call me when it arrives so I can go back and do the repairs. Has anyone ever had an issue with a trikes back wheel ? The job should be easy but I'd like to hear some input if anyone has anything.

You need to see it for your self, if it a standard bearing thats a good thing.

More than likely well have to order the part. An auto parts store may have the bearing , if it is a somewhat common size. |

I'm guessing the castle nut on the axle is loose. You may have to add a washer or more between the hub and the nut to get it tight and get cotter pin to line up. It is possible a bearing is bad. On my fiddy trike the bearing spacer on the inside of axle tube chewed into the axle tube causing the axle to move in and out. I milled the inside lip flat an used a wider bearing. Take nut and hub off remove dust seal and c-clip. replace hub and nut. There is also some axle retaining screws in axle tub near fender mounts that must be removed. Use a slide hammer attached to hub to pull axle assembly. Hope This helps.  Roy |

Not sure if the bearing size on the 300 are the same. The fiddy trike had 6205z bearings. Nappa didn't have them. I got my wider bearing from work.
Cant remember the size, but have it wrote down somewhere. now if I can only remember where.

I looked for the cotter pin but it was nowhere to be found . he put all the bolts and parts in a bucket , but no pin. Its funny u say that because that's what I told her probably happened . the cotter pin more than likely broke and fell out allowing the castle but to loosen . bother inner and outer bearings were destroyed ! The inner part of the bearings were still around the hub but the outer part and the balls were gone. The part the the hub and bearings slide into had gouges all through it. And there was also damage caused to the outer edge of the same part " not sure what it would be called . I think its called a spindle. The outer axle boot clamp was broke , so I have to clean it out and re pack it with grease then clamp the boot back on. The tranmission box axle seal was also destroyed , but the bearing inside seemed fine . so there is a good bit of rear end damage done . I'll have to find the parts. I have the model of the scoot so I hope I can find them pretty easy. |
