Hello... Gota new 161Qmk bike and it seems to want more gear. Tore into gears and shocker,had stock 13/40. Does anybody have a 170cc kit bike w/ advice for my final? Rpm's are 59 gps (7,500) but needs more stress,just don't know how much!

I am thinking about upgrading to the NCY 61 MM kit as well. My research seems to indicate the best gears would be NCY GEAR SET GY6 16\38

Rpm's are 59 gps (7,500) but needs more stress,just don't know how much! What size weights ? Are you hitting 7500 rpms on a straight run ? Of go with 15:38 or 14:38 . I did a 14:38 change and it was great. I thought i bought 15:38 gears but when I went back and looked the listing said 14:38. I haven't seen anyone else running the 14:38 gears but man it made a difference . 13:40 is a .308 , 14:38 is a .368 , 15.38 is a .394 So the 15:38 will give you better top end then the 14:38 " if the scoot can push the gears " . the 14:38 will give you better takeoff then the 15:38 and better top end then the stock 13:40 gears. I suggest anyone with a stock bore up to a 60mm bore to go with the 14:38 gears . I wonder if many with a 61mm bore should also do the 14:38 gears . it seems I have much better top end then many with a 61mm bore . I have a 58.5 mm bore. |

I cringe when I see someone install a 16:37 ratio . unless you have a scoot with a 67mm bore , I don't think your scoot will turn the gears over to reach a higher top end . someone with a 61mm bore and 16:37 gears will need very light weights to turn the gears to a necessary speed to out match the top end of a 15:38 gearing. The weights will be so light that the belt will not be able to climb that high on the variator .

Thinking of a 2 gear soul... my 150cc -37 intermedite, and my 170cc a front 15? Ptttthhhut....that way I only need 1 gear set,Chime?

15:38 sounds like a safe bet to me, but it would be nice to hear from someone who has done this set up.
