Lain - naturally you should and will do what makes the most sense to you.
but I urge you to consider:
The absolute best supplier we have here is John. He takes a personal interest in trying to make sure the things he sells are good. But his is a small company - as is every other single scooter retailer in America. not a one of them has the ability to actually set up a real QC department, or to exert any buying pressure on manufacturers. And so, despite best efforts, what we end up getting is hit and miss. Even from john. From the others ..... bleh.
Walmart may be a company you hate. Shrug. But they have an immense QC activity, and have the clout to make manufacturers jump. The idea they sell "seconds" is preposterous.
True, their target customer is middle class, and so they tend to sell not the top-of-the-line product (their customer can't afford it). But we are talking here about a standard product. From Walmart you are guaranteed of getting a real Gates Powerlink Kevlar belt. From anyone else you will get ... who knows. I paid TWICE the price and still got (probably) a fake. Stupid me; should have gone to Walmart - at least I would be getting the real deal. The fact their price is lower is just icing on the cake.
your worry you may end up stranded is reasonable from EVERY other supplier (well, not NAPA, but their prices are the highest in the country). That worry is ENDED if you go to Walmart. IMHO, you are looking at this backwards.
My 2 cents, for what its worth.

You always hear walmarts TVs are cheaper because they get the bottom of the barrel and so on . well come to find out they are not always the cheapest I recently saw a 55" Samsung led from Walmart and the price was $980.00 . I went to sears and saw the exact same model for $799.00 , but they were out of stock and I would of had to wait 13 days " I hate waiting ! " so I went back to Walmart and told them about the sears price . hey looked it up online and dropped the price down from $980.00 to $799.00 and I got to go home with it . this is actually the second Samsung we bought from Walmart . the first was one of the 60" slim plasma . I prefer plasma but I settled with the led this time . plasmas have much deeper blacks and I like the color and depth Better also. Plasmas do run hotter but over all much better picture , especially since they solved the picture burning problem . but anyway . the point I was getting at was Walmart may have products at cheaper prices , but its because they have so many more outlets and sell so many more of the products that they can afford to drop the prices. And when it comes to them being the cheapest , well that's not always the case either , so if they were selling less then perfect products they probably would not have higher prices than sears ! I hope you all caught my sarcasm in my earlier post about the Walmart selling products that do not pass QC .

This is really getting ridiculous with racingplanet. They keep giving BS excuses as to why they can't give us our money back. They tell us to have the bank call them, so we chose to call them with the bank on the line so the account holder and customer service and the company in question will ALL be ont he same call... but they give us a # that goes directly to voicemail...

I'd call the the U.S company and see if they can help settle the problem . its worth trying.

When it comes to not wanting to buy from Walmart , I understand that there may be reasons why one would not want to , especially if they did something personally to one that would make a one not want to give them their money.
