Dash cams are a little different than regular video cams. They are usually wired into the vehicle acc. switch so they start recording when the vehicle is turned on and stop when it is turned off. Most of them use a memory card. They usually record on a loop and will hold many hours of video, when the card is full they will record over the oldest files.
