urbanmadness I have a fan of feelers, not the step-up ones you have. I have all the ones I use bent at the end to get them in at funny angles. Too loud would mean loose valves right? geh3333 There is no visible leak, just the oil level dropping every week, though since I put my valve drain hose all the way up at the top back end of my frame the oil seems to be staying mostly, but still seems to be getting dirty fast. I have heard of other people who get BBK's online with the head already assembled like I did found they needed the valves fixed or something, not sure something about taking them out and putting them back in because oil was getting to the combustion chamber from the valve area. I am starting to think this is my issue. How do I fix it? I need a special tool to disassemble the valves from the head?

Yes, too loud= too loose.
The process you have read about is lapping the valves .
With the head torn down, you take the valve, put some lapping compound on it, and use it to grind the seat. This mates the valve to the seat and makes it seal. It's not always necessary when you buy a new head as they should be lapped by whoever build the head in the first place. The way to check is to put the head upside down with the valves and springs installed (without the cam) and fill the combustion chamber with gasoline and see if it leaks out thru the valve seats.
Yes, to take the valves out, you need a valve compressor. You can rig something up, but it's much easier to deal with if you have a valve spring compressor.

My 150 had the air filter box under the front of the seat , and the vent hose attached to the bottom of the box. After installing the uni setup , I left the air filter and box under the seat , and kept the vent hose connected to it. I only removed the intake hose from the carb to the air filter.

I've always had it just tied to the frame until recently when I noticed the hose had a hole in it and so I replaced it with a much longer one to put it up back.

lain did you ever find out what gasket the pieces were from or if it was the gasket in the oil? Nope, I didn't find any broken gaskets so I am assuming it was a piece that fell in when I was scraping the old one off. I've been running with seafoam in the gas and oil and it has been running better, doing an oil change at the end of the week to see if it helped to clean out the pieces, but I changed it a week ago and I did not find any pieces. Just found my valve cover gasket flat as a pancake today, replaced it and noticed lower oil consumption and higher RPMs by about 200 on the top end. Figuring the gasket was bad for a while but was not completely flat till today. Put a new one in, big difference in how it seals with a new one opposed to one that's been used on a cover that has been opened 3 times over a couple months since gasket install. Shows me how important new gaskets are, but going to try gasket maker/sealant next time as I do not feel like ordering bulk valve cover gaskets for tweaking.

Yeah the valve cover gaskets leak pretty easy . I just had to use some red high temp rtv gasket maker tonight on the valve cover. I noticed it was a little wet from the oil leaking .
