For example I only went up to a 58.5 bore and with all the other mods I can hit speeds many with a 61mm cannot . now is that because of the 58.5 bbk ? I don't think so . its mainly due to the increase in air and fuel flow . What about the transmission upgrades, like the variator and clutch, don't those contribute to top speeds and reaching them? You are absolutely correct lain . the CVT mods def have a lot to do with the speed , I was mainly speaking of the power needed to drive the CVT , and which give the more noticeable increase , " bbk or fuel and air flow ".

Geh is 100% correct on this,,a 150 with a BBK will not see much increase in power unless you upgrade air fuel delivery and better flow using higher lift cam, big port heads,UNI,free flow exhaust. My stock 150 with UNI,up jet,and free flow exhaust ran better than a scooter with just a BBK and no extra parts added for free flow and fuel. There is no replacement for displacement thats true,,but if you dont have the added air/fuel and flow its not worth doing a BBK IMO...and there is no better mod than a pipe and upjet for any motor. My stock 150 with pipe and jet kit would easily do 60 mph.Now with the gears and BBK Im hoping to maybe see 70. My Taiwan BBK is starting to really wake up good now with about 100 miles on it,,just a little twist of the throttle and she is doing 50 MPH no sweat,,i cant wait to see top speed in a few weeks on GPS,,i will keep you guys and girls posted. Tom from Jersey I can't wait to hear the outcome of your mods after the nice weather hits us.

geh3333 jerseyboy JerryScriptHi All, in my original post I already stated that I have done all the prep work already and my mods are in my signature. I am already hitting about 60 MPH on flats, That is why I am hoping with changing the the gears and BBK will be hitting about 70MPH. However I really do not want to change the stock heads if I do not need too. Thank you

With gears and a properly tuned 60mm BBK you should hit 70..I was doing 70 today but it was a slight downhill,,I need to go over to RT 29 and hit the flats next week,,Ill make a quick video...My speedo is really close to being dead nuts on,,we have a digital radar in town here and its rock solid with that unit at 40 MPH...I would go faster but the speed limit is 25 there..lol

I can't wait to hear what your top speed on a straight run is. If your hitting 70mph on slight downhills , you should have a 64+ on a straight run . im assuming you weren't crouched over out of the wind. Usually crouching through the wind you pick up a good 3mph . Hey jersey , how is your CVT tuned ? Are you maxed out ? What I mean by maxed out is , are you set to hit 7500 rpms on a straight run ? If not I'd like to know what your rpms are at your top speed.

You know what Geh,,Im not sure but will check this soon for you,,I know it runs about 6500 WOT until the CVT maxes out around 50 mph then it climbs RPM from there,,when I was doing 70 I was sitting upright..the RPM was about 7500 if I remember correctly. There was alot of traffic around me so Im not 100% sure, also the china speedometer Im sure is off up that high.will do a top speed run friday and check RPM for ya then post back,,I know my belt isn't going to the top of my variator face there is at least a 1\4" or more that is not shinny.
I wont be surprised if the RPM is close to 8K at top speed the way this thing runs...

geh3333 jerseyboy How do you know your RPMs? My scoot only tells me speed can I use a phone app? Many scoots come with an rpm tach in the gauge cluster and many do not. I would hate to have a cluster without a tachometer. You can buy an aftermarket tach or I'm sure you can buy a cluster for your scoot that has the tach on it. The tachometer is a great asset when it comes to fine tuning your scoot , especially after upgrading and adding all the mods to our scoots . the tach is almost a necessity.

I got one of those cheap mini digital tachs for my lawn mower,,it has hours on it also so I know when to change the oil,,its pretty accurate and real easy to install,,you just mount it then wrap a wire multiple times around the spark plug wire.Ebay has them for $10 or so.
