How's it going , i have a couple threads where I've talked about a possible crank issue which turned out to be a starter clutch issue . I decided to make a new thread based on the other threads I've made. Since I found that the issue was the starter clutch , I'm wondering how many decided to scrap their engine thinking the crank was bad when it may have been the starter clutch ? I'm posting a video of my scoot making the noise caused by the starter clutch , so others can compare it to possible noises coming from their engine case. The noise can be heard all around the scoot , however the noise is loudest from the cooling fan side . the second video is after I replaced the starter clutch . I first replaced the oil pump and chain hoping that was the problem . Sadly for me , it was not the issue . I was really worried it was the crank , however I had one more option and that was to replace the starter clutch and if the noise continued I would then know the problem was in the crank . the their video is a video of me spinning the bad starter clutch . to me it sounds awful loud . in the videos you cannot hear the entirety of the sounds caused by the bad starter clutch . in the first video you can clearly hear a weird noise almost sounding muffled compared to in person , and there is also more of a metallic noise when heard in person. The third video is the metallic noise I was hearing which the bad starter clutch in . I hope this thread can possibly keep someone from replacing the crank or buying a new engine when it may just be the starter clutch. . . .
