Another thing to consider is hand guards, they make a huge difference, and can be removed easily during the summer. Just be sure they will fit around your brake handles. I bought a pair of black plastic handguards off Ebay last year for $5, didn't fit my scooter but did fit my nephew's, and he loves them!

I have a pair of these www.leatherup.com/p/Mens-Motorcycle-Gloves/Xelement-Driving-Retro-Mens--Brown-Leather-Gauntlet-Motorcycle-Gloves/92627.html and no complaints. The quality is pretty good, the padding in them is just enough to keep your hands warm but not so much that they are really bulky, and the gauntlet styling really helps keep wind out of my sleeves.

I ended up purchasing 6 different pairs of gloves and tested each at about 20°F for at least 20 minutes of riding at consistent speeds of up to 35mph. I am not going to comment on style, comfort, or fit as all are extremely subjective and it would be a pointless exercise. The ONLY thing I will discuss here is the gloves' ability to block freezing wind. Here are the different gloves I tested (in alphabetical order):

The two best pairs were the Seirus Blizzard Windstopper Gove and the Seirus Xtreme All Weather Glove. Ultimately, I went with the Xtreme because I felt that it was *slightly* better at stopping wind, but the difference was negligible (and may have even just been in my head). As for the others, they were all noticeably worse. I was previously unfamiliar with the Seirus brand, but although I only have personal experience with these three styles, perhaps they just make very good, windproof gloves. If you're looking for warm riding gloves that offer good dexterity I would check out one of these Seirus styles.
