The Yamaha Zuma is somewhat of an off road scooter. For serious off roading, get a scooter with a manual tranny. like an olderVespa or Genuine Stella. CVTs wear much faster when dirty, I've read. The Vespas that finished the Dakar rally had manual trannies. Zuma Dakar Vespa

I've had tons of fun just throwing knobbies on my old scoot (My avatar). You can find knobs that fit for honda xr50's and the like for about $25. Scoots are way rear weighted though so they are kinda hard to jump smoothly. but i have not had any issues with gunk in my clutch or variator. The only time i got worried was once, I jumped my TGB right into a mudhole and it sunk to the taillight. It ended up just fine. Don't think you can straight up mx though. The front ends are not the strongest suits on a scoot. They are plenty of fun though.

That is impressive. It looks like someone stripped the bike of EVERYTHING but what was needed to make it go. I think a chain cover and rear fender would be nice though. It looks like it would spray water all over you. It doesn't look like it could handle a 150 motor, looking at the brakes and everything. Doing 60+ on that thing looks like certain death. I'd like to chat with the engineer that designed it.

Ive ridden one of the motopeds in my motorbicycicling days and they are insane! I would just buy a used pit bike in hindsight if i were to go mad offroad. Most of the pit chassis available are xr50clones and are very modifiable. Long rear swingarm (recommended if you want to rip on a pit bike), lifan 125cc, etc.etc. and you can use honda hop ups on them for the most part. forget about the giant wheels (which are great!) They are a conglomerate of minibike, pit bike, mountain bike parts all rolled all into one. the last scoot i built had a roxshox fork modded to fit the triple tree of a scoot and it cost very little.
