Can anyone point me in the direction of a good guide for derestricting a 2009 50cc Yamaha Zuma? I'd prefer a guide that you know has been effectively used before. Thanks. I was told by a Yamaha mechanic that the adjustment needs to be made in the actual throttle handle, but I've also seen videos such as this one that are more involved (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7b8wzsmSiBg) so I'm not sure which method is correct. Thanks.

Well if your carb is like that one in the video, the Throttle control wheel has a stopper to limit how much the needle is raised out of the defuser. So that is definitely a restreicted throttle.
To check it out lift the slide with your finger and see how high it will go AND pay attention to the NEEDLE MAKE SURE it does not come out of the GUIDE. At the max up the needle should still be in the needle guide a little bit. Alleyoop

Hey Alleyoop, I have no idea if my carb is like the one in the video because I have not taken the scoot apart yet. I was honestly hoping to avoid doing so if possible (which it may not be). In my O.P. when I said "throttle handle", I should have said "accelerator". The mechanic had mentioned the adjustment needed to be made in the accelerator, not in the actual carb/throttle/control wheel. But based the vid, I'm guessing he just didn't know what he was talking about. Is this something you have done? Thanks.

No I have not done that one but it is obvious that type of carb limits the travel of the control wheel to pull the slider up more. I have done the one under the Diaphgram cover on the cv carbs. But you should not have to take everything off just the tub and seat to get at the top of the motor usually about 4-6 bolts. Alleyoop
