I wouldn't have thought of that. MacGyver lives!

Looks like Red Green show, except there is no evidence of duct tape.

Who knows what evils lurk in the heart of a used bike?
That it was a 750 and that the repair was potentially done to sell a bike with a blown piston to an unsuspecting buyer is just over the top too. How some people can sleep at night is a mystery to me.

Well, ah...
WAY back "in the day" I had a 1949 Ford convertible. Slick car, but the venerable old flathead V8 had a spun rod-bearing. I too wanted to sell the car, and that wasn't likely to happen with a rod knocking.
Sooo... We pulled the pan, wiggled the rods until the offending one was discovered with about 1/8" of slop. We pulled the rod-cap, and I cut a piece off my garrison belt... I soaked it in oil overnight, and then wrapped it around the rod-journal on the crank. The rod-cap was re-bolted on, and the motor started. Smooth as a salesman!
I drove the car about a thousand miles before it sold. In fairness, I DID inform the buyer of the less-than-factory repair, and he'd probably have to have the engine rebuilt shortly down the road.
I kept track of that pretty old Ford for several years. The guy was really happy with it, and it was STILL running fine after 20,000 miles on the leather rod-bearing.
I hope the guy who screwed the fix onto that piston used some JB Weld or SOMETHING to keep the screws from coming out at 10K rpm... LOL! I don't want to knock it, could be, it's an approved factory repair in China!
Gotta love it!
