rocky, I just called Jasper. He pretty much accused me of dogging my engine. "We have no way of knowing how it was taken care of. 13 years is a long time." I told him I understand they can't know, but that I kept my car maintained, that every oil change I had my mech's look over everything every time, that anything that came up, I fixed. Well, except the speed-sensitive steering, 'cause that wasn't anything to the car's running and it wasn't going to be an easy fix 'cause Ford discontinued the part years earlier.
So basically I got the same attitude as when the head cracked at 20k miles. "Too bad, you're screwed, bugger off." Except this one added, "You could've dogged your engine, how would we know, now bugger off."
NOT impressed with Jasper in any aspect. Not their engines, most definitely not their customer service.

Honestly...Jasper is pretty good. Having seen their reman engines go 200k or more (saw one with almost 350,000 miles in a courier's Caravan), I'm surprised they blew you off like that.

Maybe you Jarl or rocky can call Jasper for me then. Seems they just want to cop attitude and blow me off. Happened back when the head cracked the first time, happened again when I called this week. Maybe it's 'cause I'm a gal and engines are supposed to be man-stuff? I dunno.
I mean, I would think they'd be interested in an engine of theirs that barely made 77k miles total. I would be, if it was my business. If I sold a painting and even years later the owner called 'cause the paint was cracking or something, I would be all over fixing it. If I sold rebuilt engines and an owner called 'cause hers cracked at 20k, got fixed, now has an issue 57k miles later, I'd be all over wanting to find out why. "Have your mech send it here, I want to run some tests and try to see what happened. Can't guarantee you anything 'cause it HAS been 13 years, sorry. But at least we can learn from it."
But not Jasper. Personally, I think they're cruising on their name and rep. If they keep merely cruising without the customer support, their rep's gonna tank just like my engine.

They probably do get a lot of crack-pot complaints and the agent you spoke with may just be jaded and type cast you. Send a follow-up email which may have more impact due to its traceability emphasizing that despite great care on your part due to the first failure you have had a second head failure indicating that the block itself was potentially defective or not properly prepped when it was rebuilt. If you have already sold the car of course then its time to give it up since the engine in no longer in your possession.

Sadly, nope, the wagon's still sitting in my mech's back lot. With another car parked in front of him. I do have a few folks looking into the engine situation. I'm guessing that means they're asking their mechs what's involved in a failed gasket and what it might end up costing.
Maybe I'll give the email route a try.
I just want Jasper to admit to letting a dud engine slip through. I'm not really expecting a new engine or anything, not 13 years later. Although if they offer, I will NOT say no! But just owning up to it would help me feel better. Esp after Matt at Jasper Engines pretty much accused me of dogging the engine. "Gosh, she already feels like dirt 'cause she obviously loves her car and our engine crapped out a second time in way too few miles. Let's tell her it's all her fault so she can feel even worse."
