After replacing the stock CDI and spark plug with a Racing CDI and Iridium spark plug on my scoot, it started hesitating when taking off and going uphills (it almost stalls going up hills). I have possible suspects, bad contact on the CDI connector, bad coil (it might not play well with the new CDI), or fuel starvation. I haven't mess with the carb, it is as it came with the scoot.

I found it! Bad CDI connector, it happened only during take off and uphills because it is when the scoot vibrates the most because the engine gets pushed harder, making the wire moves

Were u able to tape the connection or was that not enough ? Sometimes the wires in the connectors are not secure and need to be redone . but atleast its usually an easy fix.

I put silicon with a silicon gun in the holes where the cable is attached to the terminal, no more moving cables

Glad to hear you got your wiring worked out! I just had a similar issue with my plug boot! The plug boot finally became loose on the spark plug, and I began to have intermittent power loss. Also made her very hard to start, which I was initially blaming on the temp change and carb tuning. I messed with my a/f screw, and always came to the same setting, but still had the intermittent power loss. Finally last nite, I got home from work after a rodeo ride of power surging, and thought I would put it the stock coil/boot I have kept since doing my upgrades last year. Hit the starter and she fired right up, first time in a week. Took her for a spin, and no more surging or intermittent power loss. I had spent a week fiddling with my a/f screw, always ending up at the same setting, forgetting the definition of insanity: doing something the same over and over and expecting different results!

I had a similar issue a couple months ago with the plug boot vibrating loose from the plug . after a long higher rpm run the scoot would start to hesitate ,so I would pull off the rd and push it back on . I ended up just buying a new NGK plug boot from a shop near by.
