Product:
Moped Scooter GY6 ATV Oil Tank Dipstick with Temperature Gauge DIY Vendor: www.ebay.com/usr/vipershangout on Ebay Price:
$11.99 including shipping Picture: Delivery/Packaging: Free Shipping with tracking. Got here to Florida from Nevada in 3 days. Construction: Aluminum nut/plug with stainless thermometer. Quality:
Not sure yet. Plug is well made. Thermometer is the exact same thing you buy for cooking but with flames on the face. Will it hold up? So far so good after a week. What makes it cool: Lets you see how hot your oil is. Mine seems to be running about 100 degrees C. AKA the boiling temperature of water. Comes in red or blue. What makes it a bad choice:
Needs a wrench to get oil plug on and off. Didn't come with level marks. I sanded a section of the polished shaft to match my original oil dipstick. Only comes in red or blue. I suppose I could paint it black. Comments:
Could be useful but I don't know yet. It's not convenient to look at like a dash mounted gauge but it's something and that might be better than nothing. Conclusion:For 12 bucks, it was worth a try. We'll see how long it lasts.

No sorry. I was in a wreck a month later and the thermometer went with the bike to the insurance company.

Just me. :)I see ones like mine on ebay for under $10. My oil temps were around I think. (90C or 194F to be clear) EDIT Temps for Nov 2014 show lows of 55F to highs of almost 80F. Those are the temps I was riding at, at the time.

I read one one website that it should be between 180F and 200F.

No joke. I read online our temperatures are around 350F or 180C about. I also had found some info on that gauge and they stated it would go all the way around... I can tell you for sure it is much higher then 90C That is the reason I would love to find a reasonably priced 400 F or 200 C gauge.

Good price. Worth trying. I just ordered one, and will update once arrived. I wish I would've saw this thread sooner... A while back I purchased a whole handful of these gizmo's.... They're about as accurate as a blind man with a bow and arrow....
