Gina Lollabrigida was what I was thinking:

Back in the day, women riding side saddle was one of the craziest things I ever saw. So dangerous!

Yeah, that "side-saddle" thing was all the rage in Europe... Still is, I think. And Gina wasn't bad! Cary Grant needed longer socks though... LOL!
It's an interesting "factoid" that Dale Evans was credited for the invention of "culottes"... Nudie of Hollywood made them for her so she could "straddle a hoss" like man, but look like she was wearing a Western skirt! Probably just the thing for a ladylike cow-gal to wear on a scooter... Of course, she ALSO carried a silver-plated Colt Police-Positive six-shooter over her fancy shorts... A tad "wussy"... Shoulda been a Single-Action .45 like Roy's pair... Roy Rogers would surely approve! Leo (showin' my age, and watchin' Roy Rogers reruns) in Texas

More of a Gene Autry fan myself even if he did sing about his old 44 and red nosed....

If you had a pulse and were a teen male you also watched Kirby Grant in Sky King:
When my youngest daughter was in junior high school she got her entire computer class watching the episodes that were at the time posted on the American Flyers web site. I got her hooked and she would watch it in free time in the computer lab. One kid asked what she was watching but even though she though it was a lame black and white 50's show she also thought Bud was kind of cute so eventually all the girls were watching then one of the guys noticed and told them it was a lame 50's black and white tv show by Penny was sort of hot so eventually all the guys were hooked at which time the instructors took note of the growing crowd and also joined in. When she played the final episode she says you should have heard the complaints - "What do you mean final episode?".
My daughters now search for shows and movies I mention watching as a youth and find them to be the best.

I think Cissy got me watching this show as a kid. She was 21 when the show started. Then there was Victoria and Audra of Big Valley. Audra was the looker but Victoria was everything a woman ought to be. Of course Stanwyck was hot in her day too. and Gidget Looking back, I can see the leading ladies had a good deal to do with why I liked these shows.

I have that universal windshield, best $35 I spent on my scooter! It is just enough to keep the wind and rain off your chest, only your helmet gets hit, and not much, but you do need good warm riding gloves. When I first put it on and sat behind it, I thought the small size was going to make it pointless, but it really does make a difference! I rode all last winter, and we actually got some rain here in Vegas last winter, and I was warm and dry the whole time thanks to that windshield. I left the mounting brackets on over the summer, and just re-installed the windshield back into them last week, only two nuts to tighten. Added bonus, it doesn't seem to add much drag, I don't notice any acceleration lag, nor major issues with cross winds (well, a 45mph+ crosswind does keep you glued to the windward side of the lanes). As for the original question, I like cruising between 35-40mph, just feels right!

The Puig Sport Fairing actually improves acceleration and top speed. Here is my Sport City 250 parked at the dealers while picking up some supplies: Here is what the Sport City looks like when sharing a parking space at work with a Ducati MultiStrada 1200:

I've read the a good windshield should reduce drag.. I'm kinda thinking about getting a taller one so I can lay it back more. The riding position on my Land is such that my head is a good 2 feet from the handle bars.

howdy, and back to the subject,,,,, i find that each scooter settles in at a different "comfortable" pace. the bv350 i have now settles in about 60 mph and is very comfortable. if i am on the freeway and need to go faster it settles again at about 70. other speeds seem to require lots of adjustments to keep it there. oh--also it settles in at about 50 on the back roads.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

If you can get your schnoz a foot or so from the back of a big semi on the highway, it's AMAZING how fast you can go, and how wind-free it can get! They don't call it "drafting" for nothing... Not so good on a hot day, behind a truckload of chicken renderings though... LOLOLOL! Not for me though, I like a LOT of daylight between me and tons of steel and chicken-guts... HeheHe... It may look angry to some but its a joy to ride. Stable even at + mph. Cruises at 75/80 even carting my 245 lbs around unless you have a really bad headwind. The stock halogen lamps are like lasers according to my eldest daughter after I followed her home late one nite and I am not sure what the comment would be now that I have the brighter Osram XtraVision bulbs.
