What's the best way to remove the bolts that hold the intake manifold and muffler on? I bought a new cylinder head but didn't buy new bolts, trying to use the old ones. i.imgur.com/B3EwYFf.jpg

Vice grip attached IN THE MIDDLE (where there are no threads). Spray with some penetrating oil first just in case.

For the intake, use both bolts on one stud at a time, tighten them together then with a box end wrench turn the bottom bolt counter clock wise and the stud should come out. Do the same for the other stud. for the exhaust bolts, you are going to have to find 2 nuts that fit, I don't recall if the intake bolts will work on the exhaust studs or not. But once you get the right nuts, just follow the same procedure to loosen the studs.

I'd try "double nutting" them, as shannen said. Put two nuts together on one stud and tighten them together, then unscrew the stud using the bottom nut.
