So I have all the plastic shroud off of my gy6 150cc, and looking at it I'm left wondering what is the purpose of this snorkel coming off of the fan shroud? It points directly at the carb. Seems to me that this snorkel being right off of the fan would allow for much needed cooling air to be lost before it gets to the cylinder fins.
Is it meant to add some sort of cooling to the carb?
If I pull it off and plug the hole, wouldn't that aid in cooling my motor?
I'm not too concerned with keeping my carb cool as I've added a 2.5 inch riser to get it off of the motor and I have a cooling scoop installed on the left flank of the body to provide cold air to my intake as well as help keep my engine compartment cool.

Yes that is to try and keep the carb bowl cooler, so in very hot hot weather it will not get a HEAT STROKE. But I do not think for one minute that would happen so by all means do what you please with it block it off if you want to. Alleyoop

Thanks, that's what I thought...It's getting cooler here and with this time of season I don't think I'll have to worry too much about over heating..again this motor only needs to last until spring. That's when I'm planning on installing the bigger B block with proper cooling added.
