Well Eisenhower is out. He was never in combat. Patton was a real badass but McArthur would ignore orders from the President. He was fired for being too macho.

Patton was willing to refer to the enemies of America as enemies, rather than disenfranchised people with a different opinion. He could see that the Soviets would be a threat after WWII. We could use somebody with that kind of honest insight these days. I vote for old "Blood and Guts".

Have a bone, wheelbender6...
Old "Blood n' Guts" today, would have his jeep upholstered with the hides of so-called "Americans" who use their passports to go join the Middle-East murder-fest of ISIS and then return to the USA to attack us on our own turf.
Yup...

General Eisenhower gave the go order for Overlord, the invasion of Normandy that completed the encirclement of Germany and finished a reign of destruction and death the likes of which this world had never seen. If there was ever a "Macho" decision for one man to take that was it.

I think all three deserve the title. All of them would call it as it was and made the tough decisions when it counted. Of course I would never want to cast any dispersions on their modern counterparts!

I asked Mom this morn since we had time to actually talk about it.
She thought about this a few minutes. Then she said all three were good leaders and strong men. But she decided Patton was the most macho. She said Ike was too nice. And MacArthur was pretty nice, too, compared to Patton. Although Mac got in trouble with Truman, which is when he said "I shall return." She said Patton was just tough all through. So she voted Patton as most macho.
(and not that this contributes in any way to machoness, but in hs I got to play the picc solo at the start of the Theme from the movie Patton, which opened our halftime routine. So Patton has a warm fuzzy spot in my memories and heart. Not that he'd appreciate it for that reason, from the sound of him)

and imagine 'Kat with her picc, splitting the 50-yard-line with her picc-friend, playing that beginning part while the rest of the band marched onto the field behind.

I must agree with most of the above. Though Eisenhower did not have combat experience, he listened to the the members of his staff that did, and was able to make great decisions. MacArthur's "I shall return" statement about the Philippines was very Macho. He called his shot and he made it. He also disobeyed the president, which was very Macho. Patton inherited a tank division that was in disrepair and parts were difficult to get. Patton used his own personal wealth to repair his tanks and ship in parts. He also created the Desert Training Center to prepare out our armored units for war. It spanned nearly from Indio, CA to Phoenix, AZ. All 3 of these flawed men did brilliant things that changed our lives.

When MacArthur made his "I shall return" statement, Roosevelt was still alive and in charge during WWII. What MacArthur got in trouble with Truman over was the way he wanted to conduct the Korean War. MacArthur wanted to pursue the North Korean soldiers across the Yalu River into China. Truman feared if that was done it might draw the Chinese into the war. When it appeared as if MacArthur might ignore him, Truman had MacArthur report back to the States where he was relived of command.

Both MacArthur AND Patton were right about how to finish the war for the long-term. Washington should have listened... They did NOT, and are STILL NOT listening to our military leaders. What a shame.
When you don't stop the enemy "over there", you'll most certainly be fighting them "over here". Yup...
We never seem to learn.

"When you don't stop the enemy "over there", you'll most certainly be fighting them "over here" Problem is, we were attacked by 15 Saudis, over HERE. There were no al Qaeda in Iraq at all. Saudis behead a lot more people than ISIS does and they treat their women like Michael Vick treats dogs but we praise them. Randomly killing a bunch of goatherders who may not even have heard of 911 does nothing except create multitudes of new terrorists. How would you feel if a bunch of Ukranians started killing Americans because we sort of look like Russians? George Bush was in cahoots with the Saudis. He flew them all out of the U.S., even while all flights were grounded. There are 28 pages that George Bush doesn't want you to see that may be revealed soon. Congress people have read them and they confirm that Bush and the Saudis were up to some dirty stuff. The 28 Pages
