well recently I got a free 1980 CM400A 9k miles with (auto transmission??? Huh?) well I tried to start it and no go I changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, fuel, and cleaned the carb the out of it because the jets got clogged because it was sitting for about 4 years outside just rotting away. Anyways I did got it started for once and idled just perfectly but when I turned it off it wouldn't start again at all. I tried to test my coild and not sure of I did it right as I set the multimeter to 200 ohms setting I get 02.6 ohms in small wire that powers the coil and then set to 20k ohms on the spark plug wires with cap removed ofcourse I get nothing the number doesn't change it just says 1 :S can the coild be bad?
and Yes I did do the same post in scooterdoc just incase some members that can help only see this forum

howdy, i actually had one of those along with the 750A. two observations. if i remember they were a hand choke either on the bar or under the tank and they were extremely sensitive to the position of the choke all during the warm up. second, if there was junk in the tank from sitting , you may have to clean the carb jets again. you maybe should take the hose loose at the tank and drain it or remove and clean it thouroghly . filter could now be clogged. air filter-remove and clean and check all the airway. pull the plugs and check whether they are particle fouled, wet with fuel etc.. check spark while plug removed. check emergency shut-off in proper position. find non-ethanol high test fuel. put jumper cable on to keep voltage up during start. i don't remember if they had foot crank start , but if so try that. sorry i don't have better memory of all the particulars but in my defense, i didn't have that machine for very long and really was disappointed with the 750A because of poor fuel mileage.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

The typical resistance range of most coils is 2.2-3.9 ohms on the primary winding and 10-16Kohms on the secondary winding. It sounds like your test shows the secondary, which it where the spark comes from, is open circuit.
