The Vacuum petcocks that screw onto the tank are the worst reason is they have a built in plastic piece they call a fuel filter. It easily gets clogged and no way to clean it but to take the petcock off. Alleyoop Best is to replace that with something like this that you can get from any hardware store for a couple of bucks and then put a regular vacuum petcock you can get to easily.

I just had the fuel tank off, removed the vacum petcock and cleaned the filter while performing maintenance. still has the hard start after sitting problem. might look into changing vacum petcock.

Had a few minutes this morning to look at the scooter. The vacum line from the manifold to the vacum petcock has a T in it. the T'd line runs to some sort of ck valve. I tested the ck valve and it doesn't hold vacum good. There's a ball or something isnide and if I shake it it will hold vacum sometimes. I have no idea what this valve is for so i'm eliminating it to see what happens.

Battery is good, it does get trickle charged if left sitting. Valves were just adjusted last week, new spark plug also. Under the tank is a vacum activated fuel shutoff, tank is high up under the luggage rack and gravity feeds, don't have any pump. My thoughts were possibly T a bulb of some sort vacum bulb in like a boat uses to prime the carb. Carb might have been replaced but it doesn't have a manual choke, does have an electical connection which must be an enrichener. What voltage is the battery reading ? Trickle charging a battery that dosent hold a full charge dosent help . It only takes one time letting the battery sit for awhile to ruin these batteries . I'd say the enriched is good since it starts after it only sits a a day . The only way I can see it being a fuel problem is if the carb bowl is empty after it sits that long " leaking "

U haven't mentioned it so I'll ask . Have you tried jumping it . If it were the petcock you would expect to have a constant problem with not starting no matter how long it sits .

A good strong battery will turn the motor over faster and they will start better, a weak battery turns the motor over much slower and that does not create enough suction to draw fuel into the intake. So if you have a strong battery and the motor turns over FAST then you have a couple possible problems, 1 the fuel ratio mixture is not set right and or 2 your valves are tight and it is loosing compression, all this provided everything else is copacetic Alleyoop

That's why I'm so stuck on the battery , he said he adjusted the valves and I would think if it were an air fuel problem it would be consistant " not just after it sits for a few weeks" I don't know alley I've been wrong before LOL .
