the seal behind the variator is leaking oil i cant take the motor apart i stripped the magneto slot when installing a new crankshaft so i had to weld the crank to the magneto
is there any way to stop the seal from leaking? i heard RTV silicone ...or could i push a new seal thru the block without spliting the case?

You do not have to take the motor apart to replace the seal behind the Variator. Just take the Variator off and if yours has a starter gear behind the variator that also has to come off and the seal is right there. Alleyoop Now if it's the Crank Seal behind the MAGNETO which it may be since you put a torch to the crank to do the welding then you have to break the weld take the flywheel off, magneto and pickup coil. Then take the plate off, about 8 bolts and the seal is inside the plate. But here again if you go and start welding the flywheel to the crank again you will again ruin the seal, the seals are rubber so they will melt with the heat. Here:

You got it BRO, just do not scratch up the case since your going to pull it out get a pin or something and stick it on the side of the seal that way you won't scratch up the case where it sits and then rotate it and as you rotate it pull and it will pop out.

Not a problem, they have a tool to pull them out but not needed and even with the tool if you don't know how to use it you will wind up with a leaking new seal. A lot of folks grab a screwdriver and start digging it out and scratch the heck out of the case then they put the new seal in and because they scratched the out of the case it leaks.
