Just got this build done, with special thanks to Millsc for answering questions, and my brother for doing the install. All I can say is this thing is a beast! I figured I might need taller gears, so I got the 18*36 gears from scrappydogs. I'm having carb problems heres the symptoms: Taking off, it chuggs and pops with a 120 main jet. When we did the 3mm crank, it just had the 112.5 jet and it did not chugg or pop on acceleration and was fine. My carb is the cheap $30 26mm carb that so many people get off ebay. The needle cannot be adjusted, do I need to down my jet size back to 112.5 or get a 115 jet, or find a needle for my carb that can be adjustable?

Yes, popping on acceleration is to much fuel, I would try the 115 if not enough then go to the 117 if the other way around then the 112.5 You just do not want to be running LEAN. Like on mine a 125 it was popping was to much and it would run good with a 120 but was on the edge on the lean side so I put in 122.5 and runs great. Alleyoop

Where is it popping from intake or exhaust ? What type air filter and exhaust ? John My air filter is the blue splash proof filter from Scrappys, on a 1Ft long piece of radiator hose, Exhaust is the Two Brothers racing, like the kind scooter elements sells. We put the 112.5 jet in and it runs better, just pops and sputters when slowly taking off.

Alley, Them bigger carbs like the 30mm OKO flatsides and 28 flatsides from ScooterElements would they be beneficial for my situation? Or should I just get a cheap one off ebay that is fully adjustable? I have a cheap 26mm carb off ebay now, it just doesn't have needle clips.

Popping at the muffler or carb ?

Popping at the muffler or carb ? John Its popping at the muffler, only when taking off, midrange or faster going to 50 it runs fine. Its not popping real bad, kinda like a stutter, or sputtering. It ran smooth before with the 3mm crank. Then we installed the 4mm, with a 120 jet, and it popped and ran crappy like something was wrong with carb. We put the 112.5 jet back in like it had with the 3mm crank, and now it runs alot better, just doing like I stated above, just wish it ran smoother like it did. I don't mind getting another carb, I just wanna get the right one, and not waste any money.

I have only seen fixed timing stock cdi's , even the performance cdi's are fixed but advanced . If you take a timing light to where the ignition spark happens in the crank rotation at all rpm's are in the exact same spot/time . The variable timing cdi it is on the "F" mark at idle when you increase the rpm to 3000 rpm it jumps ahead to 30 degrees so the spark happens before the the "F" mark .

Doublert, Popping taking off is to much gas but it is not DUE TO THE MAIN JET it is getting to much fuel from the PILOT JET. If it runs good with the 112.5 at 3/4 throttle and WOT leave that one in. The problem is the low range.
How many turns is the Fuel Ratio screw out? Do this warm up the motor at least 5 minutes and then slowly turn the Fuel Ratio screw CLOCKWISE until it stops. IF the motor keeps running the PILOT JET is to big. Alleyoop
