Yea I am sure the woodruff key came out and the flywheel slot had a big burr sticking out and cut into the crank and with all the heat at high rpms it just broke right off with the weight and everything. well that worked. as you can see in the pictures the woodruff key was still in the shaft when removed from the flywheel. but closer inspection of the flywheel and crankshaft shows that the rusty area on the crank and the wear spot on the flywheel is what I think shows it was cracked for while and then finally went. that is what I think happened so I guess I had a bad crankshaft to start with.
