Yes that is what your Stator does. It charges your battery as well provides current to all your electronics. The OEM manifolds suck! They all rust and break. Nothing really can be done unless you go with a actual Stainless Steel Exhaust System.

If you have this type of muffler, they do rust, but they are made pretty solid, I keep mine painted. Attachments:
