Just take a piece of wire and Hook it up to one of the VALVE COVER BOLTS then to the frame a nice CLEAN spot you will probably find wires already grounded to the frame so add it to that bunch of ground wires. Then re-check to see if the spark plug is firing. If the plug is wet and it did not start or fire that tells you the spark plug is not fireing. Do you have the killswitch on the run position also some have a killswitch on the side stand and that has to be up. Alleyoop

no wires on kick, and this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSZ3t_oibeA) says it's the CDI.
But I will connect a to the frame for ground. We'll see what happens.

Yea that video is excellent but he forgot to mention that the motor has to be grounded to the frame otherwise all that testing showing good results you will be replacing the CDI and still no spark. Another test is to ground the plug to the FRAME to see if the plug fires on the frame actually that should be the first tests ground the plug to the frame then to the motor and see if sparks on either one. Final update,
my fault, the cause too long of bolts on flywhl. the effect is shredding the poles on the stater!
BIG Whoooops!
New stater on the way.

no no no no no, ok, the four bolts for the eng. fan which bolt to the fly.
I dummied and put too long of 8mm bolts on the fan. They were slightly too long and shredded the coils on the stater. that's what the clicking was when it first started.
lesson learned! for me to pay attention to the size of bolts! Glad it's my bike. lol.
