I sold a GY6 performance exhaust to a guy in FL that has a 150 cc Tao Tao. It has an unusual mount. Anyone install a GY6 performance muffler with the stock bands? Thanks and God bless..

Hiskid,
Welcome to the site! I DEFINITELY have installed a performance muff with stock bands. They can be cut, re-bent and modded all sorts of ways to meet your needs. I used nothing but a vice, BIG Crescent-wrench, and hammers.
Below, I'll post a few pix of the 2-stroke-style exhaust I put on my Xingyue 150. This shot also shows my extended cooling-fan scoop, putting the intake PAST the plastics, and into fresh air. It lowered my oil-temp by about 20 degrees if I recall. Not needed in cooler climates, but here in Texas it's a life-saver!
Please note that I found going to a full-size HEADER that does NOT restrict the exhaust right at the port made far more improvement than the muffler-type. The stock factory headers are usually much smaller inside-diameter than the port itself. I made a header from an RV generator header, but you can buy ready-made headers from vendors.
Hope this may help you out... With most performance exhausts, you'll have to do some modification to the mounting, but it's not very difficult, and the factory clamps seem to bend fine, and the rubber inserts can be cut to size.
Hope this may be of help,
Leo in Texas
