Iv got my vip 50cc with quite a bit done to it so far, and I'm thinking about upgrading my stock tires to bigger ones, I need to know the benefits and if it's even worth it. If so what will I gain from it and what size and where should I get the tires for the best deal? I don't have a whole lot of money. My scooter only has alot 500 miles on it and I need to do some maintenance on it, besides switching out the fuel lines and filter, oils and spark plug, is there anything else I should change? I bought the blue racing cdi before winter and it already went bad when I got my scooter out last week and rode it once and it was done, is that normal or did I just get a bunk part? Thank you for the help guys.

Only a MJ with a Uni ? I used a MJ on my Air Sal with the air box . You can tune the CVT like with lighter rollers or even better sliders and stiffer clutch springs to have a faster takeoff . Make sure to change the gear lube too . What size tires does it have on it ? I went with a size up taller tire on the rear and I like it . Most come with crappy tires and any premium tire even the same size with be an improvement .

i got a and , started with the and it ran great so i didnt bother switching. it bogs slightly when i first take off at wot and figured it was getting too much fuel so i didnt wanna up it. it does fine as long as i take off and wait till about 5-10 mph before i hammer it. i would like bigger tires if i buy new ones but not sure what size to get and where to get them? what else should i replace besides oils and fuel lines? the stock tires are 3.50-10in

i top out at 50mph gps, at about 9000 rpm's with my stock rollers, but usually cruise at 45 around 7000 so as to not blow my engine all to . i tried 5g sliders and they were so light it wouldnt shift into high gear so im not sure what size i should go with, maybe 8-9g sliders?

I have been researching the tire issue for a few weeks now, and pretty much everyone has said you cannot/shouldn't change your tire size for various reasons (search for tires in these forums and you'll find several threads discussing it). They all do recommend better quality tires, and say it is a night and day difference when you put better rubber on. The highest number of recommendations I found were for Michelins and Perelli next. I am a cheapskate, so I will be trying the Shinko 3.5 x 10" next weekend, it has very good reviews and is less than $40 each, and I live in Vegas so I can purchase in store and save the shipping. Don't know if you want to wait, but I'll post my opinion of them after I've taken them for a good ride. I've never heard anything good about the blue CDIs, really don't hear much about them at all. I highly recommend the gold advancing angle CDI that tvnacman sells, and it's also recommended by several other forum members who use it. Not only does it give great performance, it also eliminates kick-back during starting. Some people recommend changing the brake fluid, I have not, and have had no issues, but it's something to consider. Finally, and most important, when you put your new spark plug in, you need to do a plug chop. Install the new spark plug, then take your scooter out on a WOT ride for 3-5 miles. Now remove the spark plug and inspect the porcelain inside the threaded area. You want to see a nice brown coffee color. If it is white, you are lean. If it is very dark, you are too rich. Here's an image, but keep in mind "Hot But OK" does NOT apply to 50cc scooters, so you do not want to see a white porcelain!
